Sea Trout

My primary focus as an angler and fishing guide is sea trout, which offers the most exciting and challenging fishing opportunities in and around the city.

In contrast to the popular fishing spots in Funen, Ise Fjord, and Roskilde Fjord, the average size of the fish in Copenhagen is much larger. My personal best in the harbor is an 8.1-kilo sea trout.

November to the end of May are the prime months for sea trout. Nonetheless, fishing for sea trout is possible throughout the year, and I've caught trout in Copenhagen during every month of the year.

Springtime is the right time if you want to catch a massive sea trout along the coast of Copenhagen.

The spots where I catch sea trout vary significantly based on water temperature, currents, wind direction, and water levels. I primarily fish with spin gear for sea trout. However, several of the spots I fish at are ideal for fly fishing as well.

The guided tours for sea trout unfold by meeting at a prearranged spot along the coast—typically on Amager. From there, we thoroughly fish the area. If there are fish present, we stay in that spot. If we can't locate any fish, we move on to the next spot.

Depending on the conditions, fishing is carried out either in waders or along stone structures and harbor basins. Prior to our meeting, we'll agree on which spots to fish and what gear you'll need. Most of my transportation between different spots is done by bike.

Let me know in advance what you need; Do you want to know a specific spot, or get advice on how to fish for sea trout in general?

The fish are active throughout the day, and I've caught numerous sea trout during daylight hours. To increase your chances of catching fish, I recommend scheduling the trip around sunrise or sunset. However, during the cold months from October to March, fishing during the day is just as effective as the beginning or end of the day.

I typically prefer shorter trips lasting 2-4 hours, but it is possible to book me for a longer duration. Although there are good chances of catching sea trout in Copenhagen, there's no guarantee of fish.

Crayfish

Crayfish is a delicious and exclusive delicacy. Instead of heading to Torvehallerne and purchasing the main ingredient for your next crayfish feast, you can catch them yourself.

Crayfishing only takes place after nightfall. Here's how it works: you'll borrow a headlamp and a net from me, and then we'll stroll along the edge of a clear-water lake, shining light to spot the crayfish.

When you spot a crayfish, you'll try to cautiously get close enough to catch it using your net or hands. I'll show you the techniques necessary so that the majority of the crayfish you spot end up in your net. The fishing experience is incredibly enjoyable because there are plenty of crayfish, ensuring there's almost constant activity.

It's wonderful to be out in nature on a summer evening. Here are the results of an hour of crayfishing.

I offer guided crayfishing tours from May to October. From May to July, the tour focuses on invasive crayfish species like the Galician marsh crayfish and the signal crayfish, which you're allowed to hunt all year round.

In August and September, it's legal to catch European noble crayfish, naturally found in Danish nature. During these two months, you can choose whether to catch the invasive or the native crayfish.

I only do guided tours on crayfish in lakes outside the city center to ensure the quality of the water is good. Therefore it is necessary to travel between 15-35 kilometers outside the city if you want to catch and cook your own crayfish.

As these crayfish tours start late and typically yield an ample catch within a couple of hours - enough for yourself and your friends - I organize these tours for a duration of only two hours.

Remember that the invasive crayfish must never be released back into nature after you catch them.

Remember the national fishing license

The most accessible place to fish is in and around the harbour and on the whole coast around Amager. Here you only need the national fishing license, that you can buy here. There is a few rules regarding the fishing in the inner harbour - you can read about them here.
